Facebook Home could be coming to iOS 7 and Windows Phone 8 as the social networking giant is said to be in talks with Apple and Microsoft.
According to Bloomberg, Facebook is talking to Apple about bringing Facebook Home to iOS, but it isn't likely to come before the next iteration of iOS, iOS 7, is due to land with the expected launch of the iPhone 5S or iPhone 6 in June or July.
Adam Mosseri, a director of product at Facebook told the news source, 'We’ve shown them what we’ve built and we’re just in an ongoing conversation', referring to talks with Microsoft and Apple.
Mosseri said the UI of Facebook Home on iOS will probably look very different in comparison to the Android version of the launcher.
'It may or may not be Home. We could also just bring some of the design values to the iOS app. That might be how it ends up. Or we could build just the lock screen. Maybe then it’s not called Home, it’s called something else.'
Facebook Home was announced in early April and released in the US for newer Android devices including the HTC One, Samsung Galaxy S4 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2 last week. Facebook Home lies on top of the Android UI and brings Facebook updates, notifications and messages to the home screen of the device. You can 'Like' or comment on posts in a couple of taps, although some think the UI is a little too obtrusive even for the biggest Facebook fans.
Jen Martin, spokesperson at Apple, refused to comment whether the company had been in talks with Facebook to bring the launcher to iOS.
iOS 7 is rumoured to launch alongside the iPhone 5S later in the year, bringing a host of new features including a new user interface to keep up with Android.
