Samsung sells 10 million Galaxy S4’s in record time

The Samsung Galaxy S4 has already hit 10 million sales in less than a month

Samsung’s Galaxy S4 has already reached 10 million units sold in less than a month since its release on April 27. The phone has hit this landmark faster than its predecessor, the Galaxy S3, which took a full 50 days to achieve the same results.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy S2 took five months to get to 10 million sales and the original Galaxy S took seven months.

Samsung has revealed it will expand the range of colour choices for consumers from the current black and white variants to include blue, red, purple and a brown variant previously spotted in Samsung’s promotional material. Yes, a brown smartphone.

Less official is Samsung’s apparent plans, indicated by multiple leaks, to launch a variety of Galaxy S4 variants with specialised capabilities and at lower price points.

The first of these is expected to be the Galaxy S4 Mini, pegged for an announcement towards the end of the month with an arrival shortly afterwards, likely no later than the end of June but probably before.

Samsung is also said to be preparing a Galaxy S4 Active, a rugged version of the Galaxy S4 with a bright paintjob, bolted-on bumpers, water and dust proofing and physical control keys.

This device has been seen in multiple leaked pictures and most recently a video. It’ll reportedly arrive around a similar time to the Galaxy S4 Mini and there may even be a third model called the Galaxy S4 Zoom, equipped with a 16-megapixel camera and a 10x optical zoom.
