Huawei’s Ascend Y300 runs Android Jelly Bean and is available at a budget price

Huawei’s Ascend Y300, described as a super-powerful entry-level handset, will be available at Carphone Warehouse from June 6 at an affordable price.

The phone will be available at Carphone Warehouse from £59.95 on prepay deals or £7.50 per month on contracts.

The Ascend Y300 smartphone is a lower-level version of the Ascend G510. The midrange G510 is slightly taller and has a Dual-core 1.2 GHz processor, whereas the budget Y300 only has a 1 GHz chip.

The notable feature is that both handsets run Android Jelly Bean and are a relatively cheap way of getting onto this recent build of Google's software.

Huawei’s Emotion UI also runs on top, however, allowing users to organize important applications and content on the home screen and to choose from a variety of themes.

Additionally, the cameras on the two Huawei phones are similar, with 5-megapixel sensors, autofocus and an LED flash.

Continuing in the Ascend line of phones, the Y300 has a similar design to the G510. The 4-inch Y300 is a half-inch smaller and has a 480x800 pixel display resolution.

There's also 4 GB of internal storage and a microSD slot for cards up to 32 GB. According to the press release, the Ascend Y300's 1,730mAh battery can power the device for up to five hours of talk time or 320 hours of standby time.

We hope to have a review of the Ascend Y300 fairly soon to give you a comprehensive look at the device.
