Pictures have leaked online showing the rumoured Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom camera phone is real and give us the first glimpse of what this imaging beast will look like – bloody hideous!
On Sunday 9 June reputable Samsung news blog SamMobile leaked the first images we’ve seen so far, which have all the trappings of official product renders. Now, via another site called techtastic, we can see the device in the wild for the first time and it matches up perfectly with the render.
The Galaxy S4 Zoom is an odd looking handset to be sure, it looks almost as if someone’s chopped a Samsung Galaxy Camera in half lengthways and then bolted a Samsung Galaxy S4 fascia onto the back.
As a result, it’s one chunky monkey and it’ll be interesting to see whether Samsung’s rabid following is prepared to overlook this because that certainly didn’t happen on Nokia’s Lumia 920 and that was considerably slimmer than this handset appears to be.
According to rumours the Galaxy S4 Zoom packs a 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED touch display, a 1.6GHz dual-core processor and a 16-megapixel camera with optical zoom. We can certainly believe the camera rumours now we’ve seen it – there’s enough room to fit Hubble in there.
Other specs include 8GB of internal storage plus microSD support for cards up to 64GB, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, which will of course have Samsung’s TouchWiz UI on top.
It’s thought Samsung will be announcing the Galaxy S4 Zoom fairly shortly.
The company has a London event lined-up for June 20 where the Galaxy S4 Active and Galaxy S4 Mini are expected to have their first public viewing, having already been announced earlier in the month.
When rumours first broke of Samsung’s Galaxy S4 variants all three appeared at once and many whisperings said they would all arrive within June.
