More pictures have leaked of the iPhone Light’s back panel showing there will also be blue and white versions.
As more and more pictures leak consistently showing the same design it strongly suggests to us that the cat is well and truly out of the bag on Apple’s cheaper iPhone model, now widely thought to be called the iPhone Light.
We’ve previously seen multiple snaps of the device in lime green, yellow and red. It was generally assumed there would also be black and white versions and now another snap has leaked showing both the white model and a new blue variant.
Rumours have been circulating for some time that Apple would finally meet Samsung and its other Android rivals in the budget smartphone space with a plastic-built iPhone model. Not long ago we saw schematics leaked showing technical drawings of the iPhone 5S and a so-called iPhone Light, both with 4-inch displays like the current iPhone 5 and with the iPhone Light sporting a slightly thicker and wider chassis.
Since then, multiple leaked photos appear to have confirmed the device’s existence and the rumours that it would launch in a range of bright colours. Specs remain a mystery, but it’s generally assumed it’ll have a lower-grade set of hardware than the current flagship.
This will likely include an older-generation Apple processor, possibly an A5 or similar. It’s still a subject of debate whether the iPhone Light will pack a Retina display but our guess is probably not.
Both diagrams and photos suggest the iPhone Light will have a single LED flash for its iSight camera while the iPhone 5S will use a dual-LED setup.
Apple CEO Tim Cook has publicly stated that the company’s new range of hardware will arrive in the Autumn of 2013 with many expecting the iPhone 5S and iPhone Light to launch in tandem during September.
It’s thought the iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2 will repeat last year’s simultaneous October launch of the iPad 4 and iPad Mini, but new reports have suggested that there may be some delays owing to Apple switching production from Foxconn to an as-yet unknown manufacturing partner.
