The Motorola Moto X has been spotted again, this time wielded in the hand of Google chairman and ex-CEO Eric Schmidt. The Google boss was caught on film chatting into the Moto X at Allen and Company’s annual Media and Technology Conference, which took palce on July 10 at Sun Valley, Idaho.
So far we’ve previously seen multiple coloured back panels leaked, following persistent rumours that the Moto X would come in more than 20 colour variants. Recently we’ve also seen a fully assembled model in black, although this new set of snaps shows Schmidt talking on a white coloured handset.
Leaks have previously claimed that you’ll be able to customise your Moto X extensively but we’re still not fully clued-up on exactly what elements can be tweaked. The back panel has been mentioned and so has the device ‘trim’, but it’s worth noting that previous leaked photos have not shown what we can now see on Schmidt’s white Moto X – the back panel actually has a texture to it and looks far more ‘premium’ than the earlier leaks.
Word from the rumour mill says the Moto X will be launched very soon and will arrive on US network Verizon on August 23. However, we still don’t know whether the Moto X will be released outside the US. Motorola has previously indicated it wants the phone to be a major contender to the likes of the iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S4, but these two giants play in the global market and if it wants to keep up it’s going to have to do the same.
The Moto X is rumoured to have a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chipset and a 720p display. Some sources say it will also feature a 10-megapixel ‘Clear Pixel’ camera and Motorola’s own CEO Dennis Woodside hinted at ‘contextual awareness’ which will allow the handset to do some pretty interesting stuff, apparently.
