Officially sanctioned images of the forthcoming ZTE U988S have been published on the internet after the photos were acquired by the @leakschina Twitter account.
The device, said to be the world's first Tegra 4 powered phone, looks not dissimilar to the HTC One S in terms of form factor and styling, although the press images show the handset with a fetching red rear cover.
In recent weeks, renders of the ZTE handset had made their way onto the web alongside a touted spec line-up including a 1.8GHz Tegra 4 processor, 2GB RAM, 5-inch Full 1080p HD screen, as well as a 13-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front-facing lens. Android 4.2.1 is also said to feature and the phone will purportedly support microSD cards.
While those spec details are yet to be officially confirmed, the press shots (if genuine) do give veracity to the rumoured screen size and 9mm profile, although a microSD card slot is not visible in the images.
There's been no word as to when the ZTE U988S will actually make it onto shelves but with Chinese OEM Xiaomi supposedly readying its Tegra 4 Mi3 device for launch, ZTE will have to move quickly if it wants to revel in the 'world's first Tegra 4 phone' title that's up for grabs.
