Following reports that Apple will make its big iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C announcement on September 10, new information suggests the day these devices will actually land in stores will be October 25.
The new report from Techmaniacs reiterates the September 10 announcement, saying that its own information chimes with that date revealed by AllThingsD’s sources, but goes on to add that Apple’s usually week-or-so turnaround from announcement to distribution won’t be occurring this year. Allegedly, as Apple is going to be busy with preparing the iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2 launches it will hit stores with the iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S on October 25 – that means you’ll have to wait about six weeks from the announcement to get your paws on a shiny new iPhone 5S or iPhone 5C.
According to the report, the source for this information also correctly pointed to last year’s iPhone 5 launch date. The fact that the iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2 are name-dropped in this as ‘expected soon’ should also be good news considering there have been multiple claims of delays at Apple for its tablet line-up which, according to some, could’ve seen the iPad Mini 2 appearing in the beginning of 2014.
Apple’s iPhone 5S is now expected to be a relatively incremental update on its predecessor with an improved 8-megapixel camera featuring and f/2.0 aperture and an enhanced dual-LED flash. It’ll also have an Apple A7 processor and a more substantial battery pack.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 5C will have a single-piece plastic back panel in a range of bright colours. On each variant the front panel will be white. The phone is expected to be competitively priced to take on lower cost Android devices.
