Samsung has revealed release date and price details for its Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition tablet reboot. The device will hit store shelves in the US from October 10 with pre-orders starting on September 27 from the likes of Amazon.
Unfortunately, there’s no word on such a release or pricing for anywhere else at the moment, including the UK.
For those Stateside, the 16GB model is priced at $549.99 (£343) while the 32GB variant is $599.99 (£374). We can hope those converted prices will transfer across in pounds, but experience (and a certain degree of cynicism) would tell us otherwise.
The Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition was Samsung’s surprise announcement at IFA 2013 in early September. As well as refining the outer chassis with the same faux leather backing found on the Galaxy Note 3 and a slimmer, lighter design overall, the Galaxy Note 10.1 reboot boasts an updated processor.
There are a couple of variants, as is now usually the case for Samsung devices, one has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core chip with 4G LTE capability clocked at 2.3GHz, while the other is an Exynos 5240 octa-core at 1.9GHz for Wi-Fi only or Wi-Fi and 3G. Both processor variants have 3GB of RAM.
All variants have microSD support for cards up to 64GB and an 8,220mAh battery pack, plus Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, the TouchWiz UI and all the S-Pen perks Samsung introduced on the Galaxy Note 3, including the Air Command radial menu and some fancy multitasking.
The display is a 10.1-inch TFT with a 2560x1600 pixel resolution and there are both 8-megapixel rear-facing and 2-megapixel front-facing cameras.
We’ll update with more info when Samsung reveals UK availability and pricing.
