Sony’s Xperia family has a new addition on the way according to a benchmarking leak. A previously unheard of handset has appeared on the GFX Benchmark under the name “D5103”. The specifications have also been revealed and the nearest handset it can be compared to is the Moto G.
It’s certainly a mid-range handset, there’s a quad-core Snapdragon 400 clocked at 1.4GHz, we are unsure how big the screen is but it’s a 1280 x 720 pixel display and runs Android 4.4 KitKat.
The leak comes from Xperia Guide which posted the results on its website. We hope the manufacturer comes up with a catchier name than the Xperia D5103 but we can trust Sony to do just that.
The processor is a little stronger than the Moto G which has been tested to 1.2GHz and the screen size of Moto's handset is 4.5-inches. That device comes in at around £100 in the UK meaning if Sony is aiming for that market it’ll likely be the cheapest Xperia handset with decent specs that the company has produced.
It’s the first we have heard of the handset but there’s always the chance Sony could unveil the device at Mobile World Congress this year. That’s only just over a week away, so we may know details sooner rather than later.
Here’s our review of the Moto G.
