How To Use A Windows Phone: A Beginners Guide

A new support site has been launched to help you use your Windows Phone

Windows Phone users now have a new “how to” guide which helps you make the most out of your device. It acts as both a good beginners guide to the platform and a way to answer all the burning questions you’ve got when something goes wrong.

The webpage opens by saying “What would you like to do?” and an image of a Lumia phone with a load of different options on the left hand side. Your options include personalise my home screen, keep in touch, play music & games, travel to places, take photos, search for places, make calls, work on the go, protect my info, get apps and Cortana.

Inside each section you’ll find a lot of different sub-categories to help you get to grips with the Windows Phone 8.1 platform.

There’s information on everything from how to send a text to how to get your content up onto a bigger screen, and from test driving an app to taking the best photos in low light.

The last option on the list is 'easy to switch' and shows all the ways you can take your data and contacts from your iPhone or Android and place it on your Windows Phone ready to go.

It makes sense for Microsoft to launch this now, with the rollout of the Lumia Cyan update and Windows Phone 8.1 there’s a load of new features which brings with them a load of new questions. There’s a whole section dedicated to the new virtual assistant technology Cortana, although this is currently only landing in the US.
