KYM's Editor, Rich, has already called it in a few articles on our site, but according to new reports consumers also agree - the iPhone 7 is better than the iPhone 8. Allegedly the older model is outselling the iPhone 8, that's according to KeyBanc Capital Markets broker John Vinh, who has published a report citing surveys from carrier network stores.
He says the iPhone 7 is outselling the iPhone 8 as anyone willing to upgrade is waiting for the iPhone X. A report from Reuters notes that the iPhone 7 RRP is $549 against the iPhone 8 at $699. Design-wise there is virtually no difference between the two, and the specs are on the whole very similar too, with the iPhone 8 featuring an upgraded processor and wireless charging.
Vinh's report claims feedback carrier retailers suggests consumers are prepared to wait and see if the iPhone X is a better value proposition, even at a higher price point, at the very least it is stuffed with new features for that money. The report also says retailers are not making big promotional pushes for the iPhone 8
“Carriers continue to offer promotions, but they have been much more modest, compared to the iPhone 7 launch last year”, said Vinh.
The iPhone X goes up for pre-order on October 27, with general retail sales beginning on November 3. However, it's still believed Apple will have a small supply of these handsets until 2018.
